In a surprising twist on prison programming, minimum-security inmates at Washington’s Cedar Creek Corrections Center swap cells for clubs every Wednesday night. Superintendent Tim Thrasher kicked off the Cedar Creek Golf Club to teach patience, discipline and respect through foam-ball practice sessions—and it’s given these guys a whole new outlook.
Three members—Nico, Tejuan and Rodron—say the experience has reshaped how they see themselves, and they even got to take their first real-course swing at The Home Course beyond the prison walls. It’s more than just a game; it’s a second chance.
