Stuff of Nightmares: Banner Elk’s Comeback

In 2024, Hurricane Helene ripped through the one-stoplight mountain town of Banner Elk, NC, and left the beloved Elk River Club—and much of the community—in ruins.

Over the past year, locals, club members and crews have rallied, piece by piece restoring the club and breathing new life into this quiet mountain town. It’s a true testament to Banner Elk’s resilience and small-town spirit.
